VISA & PASSPORT

Visas valid for 30 days can be bought from all ports of entry on arrival except Taba (Israeli-border). Visas are needed to enter mainland Egypt.

Visas are not needed for those who intend to go only as far as St. Catherine’s and Sharm el Sheikh in Sinai.

A visa is needed if you intend to travel to Ras Mohamed National Park or go on a boat safari to Thistlegorm, both situated in Sharm el Sheikh.

Your passport must be valid for 6 months on arrival.

As cost approx. 35USD although the equivalent can be paid in English pounds or Euros.

MONEY

The currency here in Egypt is Egyptian pounds. All major currencies can be exchanged easily in banks and exchange offices, and travelers cheques are also widely accepted. You can also find numerous ATM machines to withdraw cash on all major credit cards. Money can be exchanged on arrival at the airport.

Please remember, It is much easier on arrival at Sharm el Sheikh to pay for the Visa with cash, so please remember to keep some with you on the flight. You can pay with any main currency.
